27° European Academy Of Dermatology And Venerology Congress
Today the 27° EUROPEAN ACADEMY OF DERMATOLOGY AND VENEROLOGY just started in Paris, France. Founded in 1987, EADV is a non-profit association whose vision is to be the premier European Dermato-Venereology Society, with the key aims of improving the quality of patient care, providing continuing medical education for all Dermato-Venereologists in Europe, and advocacy on behalf of the specialty and patients.
Over 8000 attendants are interested in the several in-depth scientific sessions of the congress that covers all hot topics of dermatology.
Italian Board WCD representatives are involved as Speakers in several sessions and contribute actively to the great success of this European congress, the last one before the WCD 2019 in Milan.
The WCD President, prof. Pellacani will cover the hot topics of new imaging devices for skin cancer diagnosis and the General Secretary Prof Peris is actively involved in the dermato-oncology field chairing several key sessions.

A meta-analysis of nevus-associated melanoma: Prevalence and practical implications
The reported prevalence of nevus-associated melanoma varies substantially. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the incidence and prevalence of this disease; we also performed sub analyses considering age, tumor thickness, and nevus-type classification. In 38 observational cohort and casee-control studies, 29.1% of melanomas likely arose from a preexisting nevus and 70.9% de novo. Any given melanoma was 64% less likely to be nevus-associated than de novo (risk ratio 0.36, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.29-0.44; P \ .001; I2 = 99%); nevus-associated melanomas had a lower mean Breslow thickness than de novo melanomas (mean difference e0.39 mm; 95% CI e0.60 to e0.18; P = .0003; I2 = 66%). No significant differences were noted regarding the association of nevus-associated melanomas with nondysplastic nevi or dysplastic nevi (risk ratio 0.77, 95% CI 0.49-1.20; P = .24; I2 = 98%).

New President and Secretary General
With the unanimous endorsement of the ILDS Board of Directors and the unconditional support of the WCD President, Giovanni Pellacani and the Italian Society of Dermatology (SIDeMaST) prof Ketty Peris has been appointed Secretary General of the 24th World Congress of Dermatology.
The work of Giovanni Pellacani and Ketty Peris will be inspired by Sergio Chimenti memory and wishes.
